Meditating: Eyes Wide
In the Buddhist tradition that I follow, we meditate with our eyes open. In part, this practice brings the deep state of mental awareness, acuity and presence achieved through meditation into our full life. This body of work combines my street photography roots with my meditation practice. As artists, we need focus to be able to create, but this focus can create a disconnect from experience. This work encourages viewer and artist alike to slow down and focus on everyday experience, to remain present and mindful both while making work, viewing work, and experiencing the world.
